This collective work is an anthology of the most important decisions of the Council of State from 1989 to the present. Young legal professionals, judges, lawyers, and academics specialising in public law categorise and present the Court's key reasoning in three sections: state organization, fundamental rights, and state intervention (alternatively: aspects of sustainable development). This volume seeks to present the Council of State as a laboratory of Justice: a space where the "fair balance" between public interest and the various private interests coexisting in modern society is sought. The inspiration for this book came from the pioneering work of the Honorary President of the Court of Audit (then Rapporteur at the Council of State), Mr. Ioannis Sarmas, titled “Constitutional and Administrative Jurisprudence of the Council of State: An Evolutionary Study of Major Issues.". The case law is presented in a way that aligns with the times: the goal was to create a user-friendly tool for legal scholars and professionals, highlighting the perspective through which the Council of State has consistently approached public policies. From there, the reader is free to choose to what extent they wish to delve into the conclusions of the case law presented in this work.
