During its Faculty meeting of July 2nd 2010, the Department of Criminal Sciences of Faculty of Law at Athens University motioned to dedicate an Honorary Volume in Memoriam of their distinguished colleague, the eminent Professor Christos Dedes, as a token of their esteem and as a tribute to the life and work of this outstanding and innovative legal authority and kind, considerate friend.
After graduating from Athens Law School, Professor Christos Dedes was awarded a scholarship for post-graduate studies first by Bonn University and then by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, where he studied under the renowned penologists Welzel, Lange, Eb. Schmidt, Armin Kaufmann and G. Stratenwerth. On his return to Athens in 1963, he was appointed as Lecturer in Criminal law, later to be elected Associate and then Full Professor of the Faculty of Law at Athens University.
His long and distinguished career of teaching and scientific activity at the Faculty of Law, Athens University, spanned more than 30 years of devoted and uninterrupted service until 1993, when he was appointed as Honorary Professor of Athens University. [...]
