When the assembly of women was first staged in 392 BC, 12 years had already gone by since the end of the Peloponnesian war, but Athenians had still not recovered from its disastrous consequences! It was clear throughout those years that people were in need of a change. This gave Aristophanes the idea for a new comedy. Which was once more based on women! For, despite their conservatism, due to their practical way of thinking, women are capable of coming up with great if not outrageous ideas for resolving difficult situations!
