Humanism is, and has always been, the foundation of every European culture. Although it is rather difficult to define a European identity and, therefore, European identity as such, there can be no doubts about European humanism, which ought to be preserved; a humanism born in Europe, a unique humanism that finds expression through various lanquages and traditions, within diferrent cultures, and which constitues the hard core and very heart of Europe.
