(. . .) This book is devoted exclusively to photographic panoramas of Greek towns and locations. Panoramic photographs were very popular in Greece from the 1850s until 1900. The diversity of the Greek landscape and the setting of the villages and towns along the shores, and on islands and mountainsides, lent themselves to the panoramic format. It may be noted, however, that despite the stunning natural beauty of the Greek landscape hardly and early photographic panorama comprise landscape photography proper: almost all the landscapes are of urban landscapes (. . .)
